Ohabunwa, Kalu in war of words over rigging plot in Abia North

UMUAHIA-SENATOR Mao Ohuabunwa, PDP, and his All Progressives Congress, APC, rival for the Abia North Senate seat Chief Orji Uzor Kalu were yesterday locked in a fierce exchange of words over alleged plans to rig the forthcoming election.
Speaking to journalists in Umuahia, Ohuabunwa alleged that the APC senatorial candidate has been going about boasting that the Senate result for Abia North was a foregone conclusion, claiming that he had won the election
According to him, associates of the APC candidate had been bragging that Kalu would win supposedly because they have taken the INEC officials to their side.
“It is baffling that Kalu’s camp is saying that they have a list of officers of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who are supposed to work during the election in Abia North district, which I as a candidate do not have.
Ohuabunwa disclosed that he has written a petition to the all the relevant security agencies in the state alerting them of the claim of the APC candidate, saying “even as I felt that it was not necessary, but the way things are going, we need to alert the general public about the situation”.

But Kalu in a swift reaction dismissed Ohuabunwa’s allegations as “pure fallacy coming from a drowning man who knows that his time at the senate is over”.
Speaking through his South East Media Aide, Maduka Okoro, “here is a man who is aware that Kalu has no control over security agencies in the state, how can he be talking like that. Ohuabunwa should face his campaign and leave me alone as we will meet on the Election Day”.
“Ohuabunwa should thank God that he has been to the senate for four years when he should be at his laboratory diagnosing specimen, a man who could only give frying pan as empowerment should be examined”, Kalu said.
